ESP8266 Serial WIFI Module (ESP-07) is a new player in this field: it is small (25mm x 15mm), with simple pin connections, using TX/RX serial buffers to send and receive Ethernet buffers, and similarly, using serial commands to request and modify WiFi module configurations. This is very convenient because it requires only two wires (TX/RX) to communicate between a microcontroller and WiFi, but more importantly, it unloads WiFi-related tasks on the module, allowing the microcontroller code to be very light.

ESP8266 Serial WIFI Module (ESP-07) is a simple and cost-effective way to connect any small microcontroller platform, such as Arduino, to the wireless Internet. The ESP8266 has powerful on-board processing and storage capabilities that allow it to be integrated with sensors and other application-specific devices through its GPIOs with minimal initial development and minimal loading during execution. Its high degree of integration on a chip allows a minimum of external circuits, and the entire solution, including the front module, is designed to occupy a minimum PCB surface.

ESP8266 Serial WIFI Module (ESP-07) is addressable by SPI and UART, making it an exceptionally easy choice for anyone who wants to build an Internet of Things. You can use AT commands to connect to WiFi networks and open TCP connections without having to have a TCP/IP stack in your own microcontroller: you can simply connect any microcontroller to this module and start transferring data over the Internet.
